SnapCrop does NOT collect, transmit, or store any personal data. All processing happens entirely within your browser.
Data Accessed
When you activate SnapCrop, the extension accesses:
- A screenshot of the currently visible tab — captured only when you explicitly click "Capture Snapshot" or press the keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+S). This image is processed entirely in your browser's memory.
SnapCrop does not access any other tab data, browsing history, bookmarks, passwords, form data, or any other personal information.
Data Stored
SnapCrop stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API:
- Snapshot history — Thumbnails of your recent crops (up to 20) so you can re-copy them from the popup. These are stored as compressed JPEG data URLs.
- User preferences — Toggle settings (auto-copy, show preview) are stored locally.
All stored data remains on your device. You can clear your snapshot history at any time from the extension popup.
Data Collected
SnapCrop collects zero data. No analytics. No telemetry. No usage tracking. No crash reports.
External Servers
SnapCrop makes zero network requests. No data is ever sent to any external server, API, or third-party service. The extension works entirely offline after installation.
Third-Party Services
SnapCrop does not integrate with, communicate with, or share data with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or social media platforms.
Permissions Explained
| Permission | Why It's Needed |
|---|---|
| activeTab | Capture a screenshot of the visible tab when you activate the extension. Only runs on user action — never in the background. |
| scripting | Inject the crop overlay (crosshair guides, selection box, preview panel) onto the page so you can visually select an area. |
| storage | Save your snapshot history and toggle preferences locally in the browser. |
| clipboardWrite | Copy the cropped image to your system clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere. |
Children's Privacy
SnapCrop does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. Since the extension collects no data at all, this is inherently satisfied.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, the changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Since SnapCrop collects no data, future changes would only reflect new features or permissions.
