YTFilter is a browser extension that filters YouTube video cards based on criteria you configure. This policy explains exactly what data the extension accesses and where it goes.
None. YTFilter does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no backend server, no account system, and no analytics.
YTFilter stores two things locally in your browser:
chrome.storage.sync. This includes your slider positions, keyword lists, whitelist, and toggle states. If you are signed into Chrome/Edge, this data syncs across your own devices via Google's or Microsoft's sync infrastructure. It is never sent to YTFilter.
chrome.storage.local. When the subscriber filter is active, the extension fetches the YouTube page for each unique channel you encounter and stores the subscriber count locally for 12 hours to avoid repeat requests. This cache stays on your device only.
When the "Min subscribers" filter is enabled, YTFilter makes fetch() requests to https://www.youtube.com/@channelname (the channel's own public page) to read the subscriber count. These requests:
No other network requests are made by this extension. All other filtering (view count, date, duration, keywords, ALL CAPS detection) is done by reading text already present in the YouTube page's DOM — no requests needed.
YTFilter shares no data with any third party. The only external service the extension communicates with is YouTube itself, which you are already using.
YTFilter does not knowingly collect information from anyone. It collects no information at all.
If the extension is updated in a way that changes data handling, this policy will be updated and the version date above will change.
